Marriage Interrupted Workshop
How Parenthood Inspires Marriage and Then Steals It
How can parenthood be such an inspiration for marriage only to end up being a challenge in keeping the marital bond alive? After all, shouldn't the love we have for our kids bring us even closer together? Unfortunately, research on parenting and marital happiness consistently shows a decrease in marital satisfaction for the majority of couples, with an increase in conflict and stress within the relationship. Not surprisingly, passion, sex and romance plummet, too. This is one of the paradoxes of the parenting-centric marriage, in which parenthood is both the inspiration for the marriage and its apparent malaise. But, the good news is that there are straightforward and effective ways to restore communication and connection, resurrect happiness and romance, and strengthen -even save- a marriage, once the children arrive. How? By becoming more emotionally and erotically intelligent. Children benefit the most when their parents have a strong relationship Are you expecting your first baby? Or already in the throes of parenting? Overwhelmed by the "chaotic but normal" challenges of parenting? Feeling disconnected from your partner? How about getting some tools to help manage your "new" life? Come together or join other parenting couples for some great information and practical, concrete advice on how to be the best parenting team possible, all the while creating and sustaining marital intimacy and rekindling romance during what often feels like the siege of family life? In this workshop you will learn the importance of staying connected as a couple with each other AND as parents to your child(ren). In a relaxed and supportive environment, you will have the opportunity to acquire new relationship insights and skills by discovering: - How and why EEQ or emotional and erotic- intelligence is responsible for both a happy couple and family life. - The 4 types of parenting styles, BUT only 1 style raises the best kids: which style are you? - Key steps & strategies for understanding EVERYONE'S emotions as well as managing conflict - The importance of playfulness, curiosity, novelty and imagination, not for raising the kids but for you, as erotic partners in life. |
